Dynamic duo Griffin, Rickles paired for Emmy show

LOS ANGELES, Sept 5 — Kathy Griffin, who shook up an Emmy ceremony last year with her rowdy acceptance speech, is bringing her act to this year’s prime-time awards show. Griffin and Don Rickles, a comedian who’s legendary for his combative style, will team up as presenters at the Sept 21 ceremony airing on ABC, the TV academy says.

“As we near the telecast, there will be more sets of presenters that will surprise almost everyone,” executive producer Ken Ehrlich said in a statement.

Kristin Chenoweth and Neil Patrick Harris, who helped announce the Emmy nominations in July, will join again to present an award, the academy said yesterday.

NEW YORK, Sept 5 — It’s been 70 years since Judy Garland first clicked her ruby slippers in “The Wizard of Oz”, yet even the well-heeled celebrities who inhabit the wonderful land of Hollywood still find the shoes a thing of beauty.

Actress Lorraine Bracco gabbed about her love for the classic movie — and a good pair of red heels — last night at a New York Fashion Week kickoff party held in Saks Fifth Avenue, which unveiled a new collection of Dorothy-inspired designer heels.

“I own several red shoes, so if you want to consider them slippers that’s fine, but I have many of Manolo Blahnik red shoes!” the “Sopranos” star said, laughing heartily.

Michael Moore to release new film online for free

NEW YORK, Sept 5 — Inspired by Neil Young and Radiohead, Michael Moore will release his new film online and for free.

The film, “Slacker Uprising”, follows Moore’s 62-city tour during the 2004 election to rally young voters. It will be available for three weeks as a free download to North American residents, beginning on Sept 23. An official announcement of the film is planned today.

Moore said he considered releasing “Slacker Uprising” theatrically as “Michael Moore’s big election year movie” as he did with 2004’s “Fahrenheit 9/11”, which was highly critical of US President Bush.

Dr Green returns in ‘ER’ final-season flashback

LOS ANGELES, Sept 5 — Dr Mark Greene is coming back to “ER”, but he’s not coming back from the dead.

Anthony Edwards will reprise the role of Greene, who died of a brain tumour at the end of the 2002 season, in flashback scenes in the Nov 13 episode, NBC announced yesterday.

Dr Greene will be shown with other characters from the show’s past and during an encounter with series newcomer Dr Cate Banfield (Angela Bassett), an attending physician at County General, the network said. The names of the other returning “ER” alumni weren’t released.

Angelina Jolie suffering from post baby blues

ANGELINA Jolie is struggling to cope following the birth of her two-month-old twins Vivienne and Knox, according to new reports.

The mother of six has been holed up at the Chateau Miraval in Provence, France, since the birth and has not been seen save for a family photo shoot last month.

Sources claim the Lara Croft star is exhausted by the sleepless nights and has called in doctors over concerns for her newborns’ health.
