PUTRAJAYA, June 23 — Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hussein said the Home Ministry will come up with a new strategy to boost public confidence in the police force, instead of revisiting the 125 recommendations made by the Royal Commission's report on the police.
Two days ago, the Home Minister announced that he aims to enhance the image and operations of the force by revisiting the 125 recommendations made by the Royal Commission to enhance the operation and management of the Royal Malaysian Police in 2005.
The Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission (IPCMC) was one of the key recommendations made by Royal Commission but was rejected by the police.
Hishammuddin was defensive when asked about IPMC and said it was unfair to target only the police.
“Why are we only looking at the police? That is totally unfair because it is sensational? Because it is something worth to write about?
“But there are a lot of things that you can write as far as KDN is concern and this is what I want to put the record straight within a very short period of time as I lead this ministry,” he said.
Hishammuddin was at Putrajaya International Convention Centre to hold a dialogue with Malaysian heads of mission at the 7th Heads of Missions conference.
The Home Ministry will also be setting up a new international division and research development division.
“The main thing is to ensure that whatever we do, we have to ensure the outcome to be internationally benchmarked. Just having output on paper will be meaningless, we need outcomes where the public can feel it," he explained.

If you have followed Hishammuddin career, all the ministry he was involved, you will observe that he had not contributed anything for the betterment of the ministry. He had all along been warming the seat, saying the right thing to his followers, polishing the leaders and also using the heritage line to advance his career.
As such, we should not be expecting any fresh ideas / improvement from this guy, he is not going to do anything to rock the boat on his own unless it is directed to him by someone less. in short this guy is a total waste.

IPCMC will never see the light of day!!! The Minister is now trying to avoid setting up the IPCMC. Not only that, he's trying to absolve the police from all wrongdoings.
The power given to the Home Minister and the police is so big that YB is never willing to let go of it. I really wish there's a change of government sooner rather than later. These people only know how to find excuses to avoid accountability and responsibility. Power has gotten to their heads. I, for one, have no doubt BN will be defeated if these policies continue. The only question is when and not if.

From the turnabout it would appear the Home Minister is in agreement with them. The more the Police resists changes the more suspicious the general public gets. The Malaysian Police Force has a glorious history in preserving law and order since even before independence. They have helped maintain general public order and security and that is something all Malaysian should always be thankful for. Many of our dedicated men and women in uniform too made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation in the line of duty. Remember and honour them. However, the question asked now is has the Force grown far too independent and is now even perceived as a threat that must be reigned in? The Royal Commission's report on the police made many recommendations and it appears that report has been rejected in totality by the Police Management. Why? The Police must be independent and impartial but they have to be responsible to the Public whom they are sworned to protect and serve. The Police enforce the Law, they are not the Law.

2) If the police force is efficient, effective and honest, why are you so defensive on the suggestion to set-up the commission?
3) Stop wasting public's money on the "new international division and research development division". Just implement the recommendation from the commission and the public will definately feel it.

Hahaha, even Hishammuddin is just ensuring he does not offend the real kings in Malaysia - PDRM. Do you REALLY think that he has control over them? The PDRM kings only answers to Emperor Najib and Queen Rosmah. Do you really think that the police only "jaga" traffic and the usual crime solving? PDRM itself is part of the problem with widespread corruption and abuse that mars every arrest and lockup. Does it surprise anyone nowadays if youtube shows another video of Malaysian police beating up suspects while in custody? They do not have the credibility, what more the Home Minister who is supposedly ensuring the Malaysian Police follows the laws and policies of the country.

If the golden Rule of Administration - Rewards those stick to their jobs with Rules and Regulations but Punish them who do not perform applied in Malaysia, any new set-up or amendment of Acts or whatsoever is just a Joke!
Police are under KUP and AG and then Home Ministry. Do they do their jobes?
