KUALA LUMPUR, June 24 — The government has allocated RM1 million for former Ferrari Formula One team boss Jean Todt to spend over two years as Malaysia’s Tourism ambassador.
But Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Ng Yen Yen said no disbursements have been made since his appointment in May.
The MCA vice president also denied that Todt has been given any land in Terengganu as part of the deal.
“As far as I know, Todt does not own any land in Terengganu,” she said.
PKR vice president Azmin Ali caused a stir this morning when he demanded a full disclosure of the deal with Todt and his fiancée, Malaysian actress Datuk Michelle Yeoh, claiming that almost RM1 million had already been spent on the Frenchman.
Ng, however, said that the figures the Gombak MP had quoted were untrue as Todt was serving on a voluntary basis and the government was only covering his travel expenses in the course of promoting Malaysia as a tourist destination.
“One million in Europe gets you nothing nowadays,” she said, defending the appointment.
She added that Todt was chosen for his international presence and connectivity, which would give Malaysia greater visibility.
Ng claimed that Todt had personally helped the ministry make influential contacts in Paris, including a top film producer, magazine publisher and aides of French president Nicolas Sarkozy.
Her claim that the allocation is for two years nevertheless contradicts the announcement she made in May regarding Todt’s appointment, when she said it was for just one year.

If Azmin tak buat bising, then the MoTour don't intend to inform the public how they uses their funding? I thought they have learn something from the Pempena fiasco but then again I was wrong. There's nothing to be learned, they never will.
Fed-up lah.....

The Government claims that it can't effort to send many students who excel in SPM exam to overseas/local univesities but can effort to pay millions to people like Todt! What an eye wash!. Can't you think of other ways in promoting Malaysian tourism rather than paying millions to individuals for merely introducing Malaysia to some Paris businessmen. I hope Dr. Mahatir gives some comments on this.

an empty stomach or live in an estate without drinking water..One Million ringgit
can provide a lot of basic things for the poor and neglected malaysians.
You are one person who does not deserve to be a Minister, when on one hand
you swear loyalty to King and country and on the other hand apply for PR in
Australia,if what is written about you is true.It is nonsensical to pay Todj One
Million of tax payers money..for doing what you are paid to do but failed to do.
Do Malaysians a favour, just tender in your resignation, there are many capable
professionals outside BN who can do the job.

This is a clever answer. No one can say she lied since she will claim "I was not aware."
If 1 Million Euro can get nothing, just send me the cheque. I'll show this worthless Minsiter what it can get.
That's the trouble with these BN/MCA people. They are easily dazzled by these Ang Moh's who are all reputed to be multi-millionaires!! White skin fixation!

This Ng Yen Yen must be joking hah?
“One million in Europe gets you nothing nowadays"
WTF is she talking about. Its all taxpayers money ok?
We have been paying tax to the govt, and now they spend it all as their wishes.
In return what do we get?

That's about 200,000 Euros if you convert it. Enough to buy 4 Mercedes E-Class in France. I suppose four E-Class Mercs isn't enough for YY. :)
So instead of choosing a famous & beautiful Malaysian actress as our Tourism Ambassador, we choose her fiance who knows little about our country instead. Art Harun & TukarTiub now has more fodder to write about!

Why she declined to attend a gathering of some 90 villagers who had travelled all the way from Kg Koman in Raub to KL to support a memorandum to the Pakatan Rakyat leaders in parliament on Tuesday?
Why she did not turn up at a forum organised by the Kg Koman Action Committee Against the Use of Cyanide in Mining Gold on Tuesday night held at KL Chinese Assembly Hall?
And as MP for Raub, why no positive steps to assist the villagers, who had alleged that 300 of them are affected in health.

To promote Malaysia, we are paying a Freshman RM 1 million over 2 years and RM 400,000 per visit. This is such a good move.
Why not get Michelle Yeoh directly, instead of hiring her French fiance. If you want to penetrate the elite circles, why not hire Jimmy Choo? Or may be you can't? Maybe BN policies have left such a bad taste in the mouths of Malaysian living overseas that neither money or love will buy their time.

If the Malaysian govt is to allocate RM 1 million, then surely he should be accountable and the govt should get some results for the investment.
If Todt does not want to go thru this rigmarole of accountability and KPI, then just decline the position of Tourism ambassador. No hard feelings. And if he wants to do it on a voluntary basis, then that is reciprocity for getting his title.

questions:
Did you or did you not attend the ground breaking ceremony of the carbon-leach plant (gold mine) held on March 3, 2007 graced by the Pahang MB which began operation as of Feb 2009 which is using an estimated 1,500 kg of cyanide daily?
Is it due to you active support (including assisting obtaining official approval) that the family of the gold mining company that a donation of RM500,000 was donated to UTAR in the same year, in July 2007?
Did you also in any way actively support or recommended a "Tan Sri" award to a member of the company's owner, believed to be a former MCA secretary-general?
If all the answers are "yes", do you think the gold is more precious than 4,000 over villagers whose lives are at risk despite environment reports claiming the area is safe? Even though the nearest house is only 2 meters away from the CIL plant.
You should resign honorably and with integrity if the allegations are true.

written by DEVIL, June 27, 2009
I would like to ask Ng Yen Yen, what have these people got to do with promoting Malaysia as a tourist destination. They may be influential and it would fuel the vain minister's ego. But they do not add value to making Malaysia the desired tourist spot in Asia. The expense of entertaining them and the first class air ticket and one thousand a night hotel for the minister and her entourage do not justify the return.
The 1M ringgit is just for her ego.
Bloody hell!

Wah Lau.. So aksi one ka YAB.
Give to the me can get loads of things one. For Todt, it would be pocket change.
