KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 4 — Gerakan president Tan Sri Koh Tsu Koon today said the party will respect the process of law and not interfere in its party member’s graft charge.
“We are concerned about the former Teratai assemblyman’s charge because Gerakan has always held firm that nobody can act above the law.
“Even though the person involved is innocent until proven guilty, the court process must be continued without outside interference and Gerakan will not get involved,” he told reporters in Parliament.
Former Gerakan Teratai state lawmaker, Yap Soo Soon, was charged yesterday for abusing state allocations through a fake state government application from worth RM 10,000 for several bogus events.
Koh also responded to the attack by DAP’s Bukit Gelugor MP Karpal Singh in Parliament.
Karpal had told the Dewan Rakyat that Koh did not deserve to a member of parliament or senator because he came through the back door.
“Accusations made by Karpal Singh inside Parliament is the usual opposition tactic. They would like to disrupt the reform agenda of the prime minister.
“The opposition has also been campaigning on the basis that the voters did not vote for me but I still became a senator. My answer has always been that I prefer to be elected rather than to be appointed. I did not choose the door of appointment.” he said.
