KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 23 — PAS deputy president Nasharuddin Mat Isa has gone for a heart check-up at the National Heart Institute (IJN) after complaining of chest cramps while in Parliament this morning.
The Bachok MP was seen leaving the Dewan Rakyat on a wheelchair at about 11.45am to his car at the Parliament main entrance. He was accompanied by party vice-president Datuk Mahfuz Omar and former secretary-general Datuk Kamaruddin Jaafar.
Speaking to reporters later, Mahfuz said Nasharuddin, 47, felt a tightening pain on the right side of his chest.
"After complaining of chest pains, he was taken to the Parliament clinic and after undergoing an electrocardiogram (ECG), the doctor said there was nothing wrong.
"But he was advised to go to IJN for a further check-up," said Mahfuz, the Pokok Sena MP.
Out of the nine by-elections that have taken place since last year's general election, four have been caused by cardio-related deaths.
They are the Kuala Terengganu, Bukit Gantang, Permatang Pasir and Bagan Pinang by-elections.
