PKR Pahang deputy chief quits post

UPDATED

KUANTAN, Jan 25 — Member of Parliament for Indera Mahkota Azan Ismail today announced his resignation as Pahang Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) deputy chairman.

Azan, 44, said his resignation was prompted by his disappointment over the administration of the state PKR, which was run like a business entity.

He said, however, he would remain as PKR member, Indera Mahkota division chief and MP for Indera Mahkota.

“I had informed the state PKR liaison committee of my wish to resign at its meeting yesterday. It was attended by all division chiefs except for Cameron Highlands division chief.

“I also told the meeting that I am resigning as Pahang PKR Membership Bureau chairman,” he told reporters here today.

Azan said he had criticised the state PKR over its administration of finance and donation collected as well as the “cah keting” (sabotage) issue as they were seen in a bad light by the people.

“As I have been criticising Pahang and federal governments over A-G reports, when there are elements of this nature occurring in PKR, I have to take them to task,” he added.

Azan denied that he would leave PKR and resign as MP for Indera Mahkota.

On his relations with Pahang PKR leaders, he said the party was not a personal property and his action should not strain their relations. — Bernama
