MELAKA, Feb 2 — The Melaka government urged Selangor Menteri Besar Selangor Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim to adopt a proactive attitude and accept the RM5.439 million in quit rent arrears that Yayasan Melaka is footing on behalf of Yayasan Basmi Kemiskinan (YBK) Selangor.
Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam said Khalid should not offer excuses not to accept the payment.
He told this to reporters after checking on preparation’s for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s upcoming visit to Melaka, at Pantai Kelebang here today.
He was commenting on news reports today which said that Khalid would not accept the payment as the deadline to settle YBK’s quit rent arrears amounting to the sum remitted by Yayasan Melaka ended on Friday.
The Selangor government and YBK had been on the warpath over the quit rent arrears for YBK’s 526 hectares of land in Serendah, Selangor. — Bernama

Isn't it the money from Yayasan Melaka should be used for matter related to Melaka? If so much money is used to bail out ayasan Basmi Kemiskinan (YBK) Selangor, then what money is left for Melaka. Wonder where did Yayasan Melaka get so much money? Or it is because of 1Malaysia policy. Helping each other.

Well, this is Selangor State matter, why are you interfering? You just take good care of Melaka before it falls to PR in the next GE. If you are in Khalid's shoes, will you be so magnanimous to accept the payment? Will you not see this as interference and politicize the matter?
Well, let YAB Khalid decide, he is the CM of Selangor, besides, the payment was overdue,and technically and professionally speaking, he cannot accept the payment! He is just doing his job, please do not politicize the matter. He needs to refer to his economic advisor as well. The economic advisor will have the final say! If everything is done for the good of the Rakyat, Khalid will be the first to accept, but, in this case, Khalid has to refer the matter to the state economic advisor as it involves state land.

Selangor MB should take all the land back from YBK as they are not inline with the selangor gov. aspirations. Teach all the those musuh dalam selimut a lesson. Show them who's boss. Time for them to toe the line. And Setup a new charity entity for the REAL common raykat's benifits...bty melaka should mind its own internal affairs.

How come Malaka government use Melaka people money to help YBK of Selangor? After pay, will the land belongs to Melaka Yayasan?
In reality, since YBK is not cooperative with Slelangor government, even no body know what the hell YBk is doing. Selangor should not accept the tax, take back the land and set up another institution to help the poor of Selangor.

RM5.4M is small amount compare to the present value of the land. Khalid better sell it for much higher profit -- good thinking of CEO.

Wa ... Melaka got so much money to bail out somebody else ... Why not use the money to help your own residents ... I'm sure RM5million can go a long way to repair roads etc unless someone treats it like a gravy train ...

YAB Khalid must show a good example to all Malaysians regardless of political affiliations. The rule of law applies and there should be no compromise! Just confiscate the land. Since someone from another state has interfered in your administration, consult your economic advisor and it is best to take the matter to court and let the court decide whether you can overrule the Rule of Law? Do not set a precedent, let the law takes its course!
