SINGAPORE, Oct 27 — US PGA champion Yang Yong-eun, Asia’s first men’s major winner, will make an emotional return to his birthplace when he competes in the 2010 Ballantine’s Championship in South Korea.
“Not only am I looking forward to playing, it will also be a chance for me to thank the Korean fans who have given me such incredible support during my career,” Yang said in a news release today.
“It is especially pleasing the tournament is again being held at Pinx Golf Club in Jeju, the island of my birth. It is going to be a very special homecoming for me and I hope to give a performance to match.”
The April 22-25 event is sanctioned by the European and Asian tours and the Korea PGA. — Reuters
