KOTA BAHRU, April 7 — Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, who is still warded for heart complications at the Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital (HUSM) in Kubang Kerian here, is in a stable condition, Bernama Online has reported.
A relative, Bukit Tuku assemblyman Abdul Fatah Harun, told the news portal that the 81-year-old Kelantan mentri besar and PAS spiritual leader has been advised by doctors to recuperate at the hospital’s coronary care unit (CCU) until his course of treatment is complete.
Nik Aziz was admitted to hospital last Wednesday.
PAS has refused to commit to a succession plan for the MB who has led its Kelantan administration for the past 22 years.
Nik Aziz is also seen as a key leader in ensuring the stability of the opposition coalition Pakatan Rakyat (PR) as he has steadfastly refused to consider any co-operation with the Umno-led Barisan Nasional (BN).
Other PAS leaders, such as president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, have said they are open to suggestions which are in the interest of Islam.
